Maintenance Tech
Position Summary
Perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide maintenance to all facilities and buildings at Cal-a-Vie
- Clean and maintain pools, water features, fountains and spa, filter systems, pool heaters and equipment
- Cover pools
- Maintain all soft water systems
- Deliver UPS and Fed Ex to all departments
- Deliver water to all departments
- Move furniture
- Maintain storage containers
- Adjust timers on all exterior lighting, fountains and water features
- Wash and maintain service to all Cal-a-Vie vehicles
- Clean all sidewalks, path areas and hiking trails
- Exterminate all insects, ants, roaches, bugs and relocate rattlesnakes and wildlife
- Repair furniture
- Work with other departments to provide operational needs
- Maintain garden
- Work with outside vendors or sub-contractors on repairs and service
- Unload delivery trucks and make deliveries to all departments
- Light and maintain candles for Chapel and other occasions
- Set up the Labyrinth for guests
- Assist in special events
- Spray fire blocking gel on buildings during a potential fire hazard
Position Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School Diploma/GED
Knowledge: Must have minimum working knowledge of HAVC systems, electrical, plumbing and light repair
Experience: One (1) year experience in the maintenance field
Skills/Abilities: Must be able to perform all the essential functions listed above
Availability: Able to work hours that include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
Cosmetologist
Cosmetologist: Part-Time
Description
SUMMARY
Performs professional hair, nail, and skin care treatments, including waxing in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with Cal-a-Vie Health Spa standards and California State Board requirements. Must have excellent communication skills to be able to provide product and service knowledge while providing an excellent guest service experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provide treatments to guests.
• Recommend maintenance programs and products to be used at home.
• Provide guests with instructions on how to use the products to help them obtain and maintain healthy, beautiful skin, nails, and hair.
• Maintain quality and standard of treatments and presentations.
• Maintain a consistent high level of guest service.
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Other duties as needed.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: Graduate of Cosmetology School; Current Cosmetologist license and certification.
Knowledge: Knowledge of proper treatment methods for all treatments performed including skin, hair, make-up, and nails; Know the dangers and limitations of the chemicals being used. Experience: Two years recent experience with hair, make-up, manicures, and pedicures; Experience in a Skin Clinic, Spa or Day Spa desired.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision; Ability to focus attention on guest(s) needs remaining calm and courteous; Ability to think clearly, quickly, maintain concentration and make concise decisions; Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up; Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guest information and pertinent Spa data; Maintain a positive attitude at all times; Ability to work cohesively with all Spa departments and co-workers as part of a team.
Availability: Able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Occasional exposure to chemical products and/or extreme odors.
• Requires moving, packing, unpacking and reorganizing merchandise.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
• Ability to stand or sit for intermittent periods.

Steward
Position Summary
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. Ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility. Receives all deliveries and ensures proper rotation of items in storage areas, walk-in and freezer.
Essential Job Functions
- Receive all deliveries; label and put away all items
- Ensure proper rotation of all items in storage rooms, walk-in and freezer
- Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through the dish machine
- Sort and stack clean dishes. Carry clean dishes to cook’s line and other proper storage areas. Rewash soiled dishes before delivering
- Change dishwater in dish machine every hour
- Wash pots, pans and trays by hand
- Remove trash and garbage to dumpster
- Set up or break down dishwashing area
- Clean and roll/unroll mats
- Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions
- Sweep/mop floors
- Assemble/disassemble dish machine
- General kitchen cleaning as directed
- Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry
- Notify manager anytime the dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge: Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
Experience: One year experience as a dishwasher in a restaurant (preferred)
Skills/Abilities: Ability to read labels on chemicals; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, and procedure manuals; Ability to get along with co-workers and work as a team; Ability to handle high stress in the work environment and turn it into positive energy in the department; Ability to react quickly to resolve problems or conflict
Availability: Ability to work any day of the week, any shift, and long hours when necessary
Banquet Server - Part Time
Position Summary
Responsible for offering guests an enjoyable, expertly served meal reflecting the high customer service standards of Cal-a-Vie Health Spa. They must anticipate guests’ needs and provide service before being asked, such as filling water glasses when needed and monitoring the table(s) during their meals. A server must maintain a professional appearance and friendly attitude toward guests, other employees, and management staff at all times.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and cleanliness in accordance with the Cal-a-Vie Image Policy
- Maintain a professional and work appropriate demeanor and attitude during all shifts, and refrain from engaging in inappropriate discussions or gossip.
- Create and maintain a welcoming, energetic, friendly, and caring atmosphere at all times for all guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Ensure knowledge of the menu and items being served so that guest questions can be answered.
- Deliver professional, courteous, cheerful, accommodating, and efficient food and drink service to our guests.
- Perform set-up, clean-up and closing duties as specified on the side work checklist.
- Follow the established table service procedures.
- Provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating with a prompt and proper greeting.
- Serve meals; place dishes by courses in front of each person with knowledge of what is being served and any dietary restriction(s) that may pertain to that specific guest.
- Check back to ensure guest satisfaction; replenish water and beverages as necessary (glass should never be below half empty).
- Keep tables, dining room and kitchen service area clean at all times.
- Immediately inform Shift Leader about any special requests or complaints made by guests.
- Stay busy and productive at all times and ask if you don’t know what to do.
- Train and guide new servers in proper service standards and guest etiquette
- Be cooperative and practice teamwork by helping co-workers.
- Take initiative during downtime to find tasks that need to be completed.
- Be available to work special events, including weddings, buyouts, or corporate retreats.
- Participate in on-going training and staff meetings.
- Perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of Cal-a-Vie as requested by the Shift Leader, Food and Beverage Manager, and Executive Chef (ex: transporting items to L’Orangerie, washing dishes, stocking/rotating shelves, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent; San Diego County Food Handler Certified
Knowledge: Knowledge of restaurant/banquet operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspect, service techniques and guest interaction
Experience: One year server experience(preferred)
Skills/Abilities: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing; consistently calm, pleasant, and non-judgmental demeanor towards everyone
Availability: Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
